When it comes to organising a holiday finding out when it’s the best time to visit is a vital part of planning. Although in Cornwall we are fortunate enough to have access to golden sandy beaches, a hive of activity, and (mostly) mild temperatures all year round, we definitely think June is one of our favourite months to come and visit.
With temperatures reaching up to a balmy 160C, it means days out exploring the South West Coast Path, eating ice cream on the beach, or wandering through historic seaside towns can be enjoyed in mild sunny weather: perfect for any outdoor activity.
If you have ever considered trying a new water sport then June is the perfect time to put our famous Cornish waves to the test. For many beaches, facilities such as lifeguard cover, café & toilets, and water sport hire operate from May onwards, but are still fairly uncrowded between the Easter and Summer school holidays. So whether it’s a first-time surf lesson, stand up paddle boarding or a refreshing sea swim, you can enjoy all the best Cornwall’s beaches have to offer at a more private and leisurely pace.
June is also the month of some of Cornwall’s most iconic annual events. Weekend shows such as the Royal Cornwall Show, Falmouth Regatta, and Penzance’s Golowan Festival all highlight the best of Cornwall’s agricultural and maritime roots, plus there’s an array of food, drink and music festivals across the county to cater to every taste.
