What’s on in September


As the summer traffic subsides and the days start getting shorter we look to September to see what’s on and enjoy the last few weeks of summer. Cornwall still seems jammed packed full of things happening, here a few to tantalise:

2-3rd September – Miracle Theatre, Trebah Gardens

You can still catch Miracle Theatre’s “Magnificent Three” at Trebah Gardens – a wild western hoe down guaranteed to entertain



3rd September – Gorsedh Kernow

A celebration of Cornwall’s celtic background, the language and its spirit. The Esedhvos Festival, is held every year at a different location in Cornwall to celebrate Cornwall’s distinctive identity and Celtic heritage, and includes music, dance and performance. This year’s celebrations are held in St Keverne.



3rd September – Pottery and glazing class, Bedruthan Hotel

Spend the day working with clay in their pottery studio – learn the art of pinch and coil pots in the beautiful surroundings of Bedruthan



7th September – Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Hall for Cornwall

Visit Cornwalls main theatre and enjoy the sounds and symphonies of this wonderful orchestra



8th – 11th September – Heritage day

Every year properties across Cornwall offer free access that are usually closed to the public to celebrate fantastic architecture and culture in the county.



14th September  – Hydrangeas walk and talk, Trebah Gardens

Join Nicky Wharton, Trebah’s Garden Archivist on a Hydrangea Walk and Talk around the grounds and discover some of the many varieties.



14th – 17th – Jesus Christ Superstar, Regal Theatre Redruth

Enjoy this classic Andrew Llyod Webber performance from the very talented and reknowned youth theatre group “Kids R Us”



16th – 18th September – Newquay Fish Festival

Now in its 14th year, this festival sees an array of local chefs demonstrating their cooking talents, local produce and tasters, finishing the festival with “The Last Night of the Proms” by Mount Charles Band.



23rd – 25th September, Cornwall Food Festival, Truro

Cornwall’s most popular food festival returns on Truro’s Piazza with demonstrations, local stalls, eating, drinking and much merry making.



24th September – Thundercat Boat Racing Championships, Newquay

One for the thrill seekers, this fast action racing in Watergate bay is a must see!
