A visit to Bosvathick Lodge

Amongst our Forgotten Houses gems is Bosvathick Lodge; a wonderful cottage with wood burner, garden and treehouse built in 1884 for the princely sum of £210. It is the lodge to the estate house of Bosvathick; a fascinating historic house and gardens now open to the public.

The lodge itself is charming and quaint  and is now listed to retain its original features. It has its own drive, two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a lovely secure garden surrounded by countryside, perfect for a rural getaway. For more details of Bosvathick Lodge visit https://www.forgottenhouses.co.uk/properties/bosvathick-lodge-constantine-falmouth/

When the gardens and house are open  (see here for opening times) you can wonder up Bosvathick Estate sweeping drive past historic artefacts amongst the flora to the impressive house.

Spend some time wondering around the beautiful gardens that have been reclaimed from the undergrowth over the last 5 years, filled with roses, rhododendron, camellias and a wonderful maze or take an organised tour of the house and discover its fascinating history. Built in 1760 by the family Bosvathick House is a wonderful example of a Georgian home with many original features and interiors still intact.

If you want to wonder further afield there are many countryside walks and the lovely village of Constantine isn’t far with a great pub, The Trengilly Wartha Inn, the village also features a specialist off license with over 500  whiskeys and an array of unusual spirits! There’s a lovely tea room with fantastic cake called The Waymarker and the beautiful Poteger Gardens with a cafe nestled between plum trees in a converted greenhouse. Constantine is also a wonderful base for the popular waterside town of Falmouth with local bus connections regularly.

If there are more than 4 of you holidaying why not stay in one of our other cottages nearby – Little Bosverran (sleeps 6), Polwartha Farmhouse (sleeps 5), Badgers (sleeps 6) and Bosbenna (sleeps 8) are also wonderful rural retreats to enjoy.
