Amongst our Forgotten Houses gems is Bosvathick Lodge; a wonderful cottage with wood burner, garden and treehouse built in 1884 for the princely sum of £210. It is the lodge to the estate house of Bosvathick; a fascinating historic house and gardens now open to the public.
The lodge itself is charming and quaint and is now listed to retain its original features. It has its own drive, two bedrooms (one double, one twin) and a lovely secure garden surrounded by countryside, perfect for a rural getaway. When the gardens and house are open (see here for opening times) you can wonder up Bosvathick Estate sweeping drive past historic artefacts amongst the flora to the impressive house.
Spend some time wondering around the beautiful gardens that have been reclaimed from the undergrowth over the last 5 years, filled with roses, rhododendron, camellias and a wonderful maze or take an organised tour of the house and discover its fascinating history. Built in 1760 by the family Bosvathick House is a wonderful example of a Georgian home with many original features and interiors still intact.
