From Thursday 8th until Sunday 11th October, Falmouth’s Events Square will see the return of the annual Falmouth Oyster Festival. This celebration of the native Fal Oyster and Cornish seafood in all its glory is sure to be a delight for all food-lovers.
Featuring daily cookery demonstrations, the Falmouth Oyster Festival is the perfect chance to get expert advice and inspiration from some of Cornwall’s top chefs. Michelin starred chef Chris Eden from Driftwood in Portscatho will host the grand opening of the festival on Thursday 8th and is just one of the chefs cooking up a storm in a range of demonstrations that are certain to get mouths watering.
The Falmouth Oyster Festival is also fun for all the family, with live music throughout the festival and a range of local crafts and produce available to buy. There will be a Grand Oyster Parade on Friday 9th, when local school children will process through the heart of Falmouth in celebration of this iconic local delicacy, and an Oyster Shucking Competition on Saturday 10th, which is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleasing spectacle.
If the array of foods and crafts on offer has left you feeling thirsty, why not sample some Cornish ales and stunning river views at The Boathouse in Falmouth which, from the 8th-10th October, plays host to Tiny Beer Festival. The festival is the brainchild of locally-based micro-brewery Dynamite Valley Brewing Co. and promises to be a celebration of small independent breweries in Cornwall, making it a must-visit event for all real ale lovers.
