As the Schools draw to a close for the year and evenings are filled with nativity rehearsals and Christmas card writing, Cornwall springs into action with a vast array of activities to keep the little ones occupied.
From Santa’s grottos to movie screenings, ice skating to wreath making there is something to do for all ages and for the inner child in you should you wish to get royally involved in the festive spirit.

The Eden Project near St.Austell offers a day out for all the family – in addition to the usual biomes, you can find enchanted walks through the rainforest, build blizzards, create Christmas crafts, iceskate, meet Santa and his reindeer and even pick up your christmas tree for the front room. If its theatre, magic and mayhem you are after Swamp Circus are taking over the Heartlands Project in Pool this Christmas offering “the Curiosity Shop” a magical performance where the toys take over and plan a big festive surprise! Alternatively wrap the kids up warm and find the delights of Rogue Theatre deep in the heart of Tehidy woods performing their Guardian recommended “Winter Woods” Where all roads lead to magic… a must see.
Hop on board Santa’s train at Lappa Valley Railway to see him in his grotto, receive gifts for the little ones and a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie for the grown ups whilst you enjoy the festive ride. For dates of train rides please visit their website.
And for the inner child in you Penryn Pictures are joining with Propper Pancakes to host a screening of Elf – the most popular Christmas film for ages on Falmouth Moor on 16th December.
