Treveddoe is a stone farmhouse built on the site of an Elizabethan Manor. It looks south with uninterrupted views over its own farmland, on which sheep and South Devon cattle graze. The fields behind the house at the top of the farm lead onto Bodmin Moor. The moorland river Warleggan marks the southern boundary. There is a large garden and good walks through the 25 acres of ancient woodland. The bluebells, wood anemones and foxgloves are beautiful in the spring and early summer. Historic Treveddoe Mine (tin and copper), now almost hidden by nature, is nearby, with evidence of the old workings in the river valley.
The farm is a bird-watcher's paradise and ideal for those who want a break away from the bustle and noise of everyday life. It is a tranquil and unique base from which to enjoy the best of Cornwall. Both north and south coasts are within easy reach, as are many Cornish gardens. Treveddoe has provided great holidays for all ages. Children find the farm itself is exciting and intriguing, and the sea is not far away. The tranquility appeals to the parents, and the house is well laid out and easy to run. There is plenty of space downstairs. There are many places to visit not far away but sometimes of course it is lovely to do nothing but enjoy the spectacular views.
Treveddoe, redecorated and overhauled in 2006, has a large sitting room which is spacious, light & comfortable with woodburning stove, TV & video, DVD & CD player. The big kitchen/dining room runs from the front to the back & is kept snug by an oil-fired Rayburn. It is well equipped including dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer. At the back, the utility & laundry room with washing machine & drier has a boiler & a cloakroom with a shower and WC. A stable door leads to the enclosed back yard. Upstairs there are 3 double and one single bedrooms, and a generous sized bathroom. Clothes dry well on the old-fashioned hoist above the Rayburn. There is a small paved, partially walled garden in the front, giving onto a large mown area bounded on all sides by a Cornish bank. Natural spring water supply. Shared use with Barley Crush of ping pong table in big barn, which is available for activities on a wet day. Central heating, electricity and logs are included in the rent. Private parking. The Barley Crush is some 40 yards away and the two can be rented together to take up to 12. Payphone. Stairgates to stairs. Dogs allowed.
