Available weeks are shown below marked in GREEN, while those marked in RED are booked and not available.

Dates shown in the chart are the commencement dates of each week.

Quay House - front viewQuay House got its name when a new stone quay was built at the port of Flushing in the 18th Century. The house stands back from the quay, facing south and has charming large rooms, a small garden to the rear and a garden and summer house on the quay side. The quay garden is in front of the house, but separated by the no-through road from Flushing.

The views from the house are stunning. They look south across Falmouth Bay to Falmouth, the harbour, and the hills beyond. Even at low water there is water against the pier garden and the house itself is part 18th Century and part an extension added around 1820. The layout is therefore a little unusual.

The rooms are beautiful with the three bedrooms on the second floor overlooking the water. The large master bedroom has views both across and up river, as does the living room on the first floor. The house is heated by efficient oil-fired central heating and although the living room has a wood-burning stove it is for decorative purposes only. The main bathroom is on the first floor and there are two shower rooms; a large one on the second floor between bedrooms and a smaller shower room on the ground floor, ideal for rinsing off after a day on the beach.

River view over the GardenThe large breakfast/dining room has an oil-fired Aga for extra comfort in the winter. The kitchen at the back of the house has an electric oven and hob, and a small utility room with washing machine. From the kitchen there is a door to the secluded back garden which has a drying line and access to the parking area. The front garden, ‘the quay garden’ has a summerhouse, with seating and a barbecue and, of course, the most fantastic views up and down river and across to Falmouth. There is a gate with steps down to the water for those brave enough to take a dip. Flushing has its own small beach further along the road.

Sailing at FalmouthHouses available for holidays, in positions as good as this, do not often come up. Houses which are comfortable and friendly must always be considered a bonus. For those who love boats and the water, a house with its own private access to the water or beach, depending on the tide, will seem most attractive but it will also be attractive for couples or even families who want to be in a house close to lots of holiday facilities, in an area of boats, small restaurants and a charming village, with a garden and summer house on the dock.

As this house is by the sea and very close to an open quay, we recommend that children should always be supervised. Overall we think this is a comfortable, delightful and charming house in which to spend a holiday. Quay House is in a rare and choice location.
