Pencobben, Godrevy, St Ives Bay, CornwallPencobben is on the north coast at Godrevy Point, the east end of the sands of St Ives Bay. The sea is not far over the brow of the hill on three sides. This is an unspoilt stretch of coast, famous for its flowers and wild life. Close by are the sandy beaches of Hayle and Godrevy. There is also a quiet sand and rock beach under the cliff a short walk to the east. It is fine for walkers and for family holidays. For those interested in history this is an astonishing area close to one of the oldest Christian sites. The house was built on the site of a farmhouse and was designed as an isolated holiday house in a terrific location, looking over open country. The surroundings and views from the windows (particularly the first floor living room) are spectacular. Pencobben is up a drive from the road, & surrounded by the owners’ 100 acres of towans, pasture and dunes.

North Cornwall coast near PencobbenBeyond that is the land of the headland, given by them to the National Trust. There is an enclosed garden on each side and that on the east is within high walls which provide safe and sheltered play for small children. The garden includes a granite monolith of uncertain purpose. The nearest country pub is about a mile away. A couple of miles further on, Hayle has lots of other facilities including shops. Although the house is designed for family holidays, it provides complete peace and quiet, works well (and is warm) for a couple or two with their dog. This is a wonderful sunny location, on a dramatic headland with great cliffs and miles of beaches for sand, swimming or surfing, yet in a private and isolated position.

Pencobben’s sitting room on the first floor has views over the countryside and has table, 3 sofas, 2 armchairs, fireplace, TV and lots of books. The Kitchen downstairs also has a big table with chairs & benches, electric cooker & oven, small fridge, dishwasher. Coffee maker. Microwave. A big fridge freezer is under the stairs. The house has five bedrooms, which can sleep 9 people, including two double beds. Two bathrooms (one with shower). A big washing machine and separate drier.

The house is plainly decorated. There are fitted carpets throughout except for the sitting room which has a boarded floor. The kitchen and ground floor corridor have vinyl tiles. Some double glazing. Gas central heating. Access up a private drive to off track parking. Walled garden, and outhouses with moorland behind. Fine for dogs. The nearest beach is 150 metres away down a steep cliff path. Beaches of St Ives bay about 3/4 mile.
