The Long Little Pinnock, on the south coast of Cornwall, once formed the outbuilding to one of the two mediaeval farms at Little Pinnock, a mile or so north of Fowey, within a sheltered valley. The building has been rebuilt and extended a number of times and for different uses- perhaps even quarry work, since its first big rebuild in the 17th century. A small part may once have been a dwelling attached to a barn . Inside there are candle niches and chicken squares in the wall, pigeon holes in the side and gable, and a quirky layout, including high beamed roof, circular staircase, gallery, and bridge to the upper garden. The house is built of old stone with some from a much older building, and looks south across the valley with particularly good views from the first floor.
Newly renovated to a high standard, this is a fine holiday base not only because there are so many places to visit and see close by, but also because you and your family can stay happily in the house. There is a good sized garden, which includes the ruins of another old house. Beaches are only a mile or two away, Golant has a good pub, and Fowey is charming with bistros, small shops, pubs and harbour. The house sleeps up to 7 but can provide for larger parties if combined with one of the other houses at Little Pinnock. The renovation, fitting out & decor scheme have been well done and help to ensure that this is an interesting holiday house of high standard in a good position.
The Long Little Pinnock was renovated in summer 2004, and has, as its name suggests, a very long living room with fine planked floor, wood burning stove and kitchen, underneath a gallery at the far end, with the two storey section beyond that. The gable end of the living room is all glass & looks south west over the valley. The building is of stone under a slate roof with exposed high trusses and roof beams. As well as two main bedrooms, one with bathroom, one with shower room, there is also a quaint small bedroom with one single bed. The gallery, reached off a curving circular timber stair, has two extra beds. Modern newly fitted kitchen with every applicance including dishwasher. The sitting room has leather sofas, carefully chosen furniture, TV & DVD, radio and CD player. Board games and puzzles. Washing machine and tumble dryer. Oil fired under floor central heating.
Private garden running down to the stream includes remnants of another mediaeval house, mature trees and is naturally sheltered. A second higher private garden is reached across a bridge from the first floor. Private parking behind stone walls off a 400 yard track from the road. Dogs allowed. Can be taken with one other house at Little Pinnock for larger groups.
