Littleworth, Bolventor, Bodmin MoorSome of the oldest houses in Cornwall are in the valleys running up from the sea to Bodmin Moor. At the top of the Fowey River valley in a south facing hollow, Littleworth was once two small farms and a couple of other buildings. There is a grove of trees around the house, from which are good views over the valley, and the almost invisible ruins of mediaeval villages. This is an historic romantic place, surrounded by stones and the remnants of old buildings, with plenty to do and an easy walk to the lakes and moors above the valley. The lakes to the west of the house and the Fowey valley are beautiful places, but this is also a very good base for touring, with swift journeys possible all over the place. The renovation was finished in 2005.

Littleworth, Bolventor kitchenOnce part of a great estate of farms, valleys, downland and moors, Littleworth and its historic surroundings are an interesting remnant of old style farming. It is a lovely spot of land once called the sweetest meadows of the district. There are no close neighbours; you can enjoy a peaceful break and the landscape. The house is well placed behind Looe, Polperro, close to Bodmin, the romantic and wild Moors, and to the market town and castle of Launceston.

Littleworth has two buildings. The main house has two bedrooms downstairs, with a wide hall, and large bathroom with both bath & separate shower cubicle. A second WC room has the washing machine. There is a third bedroom upstairs, as well as the sitting room and kitchen, which together form one large high beamed room with hardwood timber floors, rugs, 2 sofas, wood-burning stove, and fine painted wooden kitchen with long pine table, a butler sink, wooden dish-rack, catering style cooker, fridge, freezer & microwave. TV. Oil fired central heating. Door from the sitting room leads to south facing terrace with lawns and barbecue. Good views around the valley.

The Old Cottage (rather confusingly called “New House”) is about twenty yards away. The cottage has a great stone chimney with open fire and flagstone floor. It has been renovated as one high ceilinged living room, with sofa bed, stretching up to the roof. There is a small kitchen under the stairs. A smart shower room is under the open plan gallery, where there is a double bed, reached by a steep stair. Available separately out of season. Private drive, & parking, large garden and fields. Trees. No Dogs in either building.
