Fowey with its peninsula is one of the glories of Cornwall. Close by is the tiny estuary village of Golant, with church, pub & restaurant. Castle Dore, the iron age fort, is just up the hill to the north. The house is not far from the fishing village of Polkerris and is close to the Eden Project, Fowey, Lostwithiel and Restormel Castle, Bodmin Moor and to beaches and a whole host of activities including a golf course, Trenython Manor Country Club and places to visit, both coast and country.
The nearest country pub is at Golant, about a mile away. Just north of Fowey, Little Pinnock was a mediaeval farming hamlet, in a sheltered south facing valley. There was once a great mansion here, but for a couple of hundred years just two stone built farmsteads. These are of such great interest that a considerable archaeological investigation was recently made of the site. Early last century a farmhouse was built some 200 yards away from the old hamlet and the old farmhouse and buildings abandoned until recently renovated. Little Pinnock Pella, which is down a long drive in pretty and private country, looks over the pasture and valley to the west. The renovation of the building was well thought out. The stone walls are thick even by Cornish standards; the high roof of the main living area, with its fireplace and gallery, provides an atmospheric and spacious house. The house is comfortable, has modern equipment, central heating. Outside are old tracks, eleven acres and garden down to a little stream.
Little Pinnock Pella has been carefully renovated to high standards and with a simple careful interior design. The large high beamed sitting room has an open fireplace, slate hearth and two sofas, television, DVD & video. Up one end is a fine fitted kitchen with electric cooker & oven, big fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/ drier. There is a large square oak table in a light and delightful interior. Above the kitchen area is an open gallery, reached by an amazing sliding ladder, where there are two narrow mattresses under the eaves. The gallery has a spring loaded gate. One of the two bedrooms is a double room with bathroom, with Victorian roll top bath. The other has two twin beds and its own top lit shower room. Bedrooms are carpeted and the sitting room has boards with loose rugs. Radio and CD player. Boardgames and puzzles Oil fired central heating. Large terrace looking over south facing garden; good and private parking. Dogs allowed. Can be rented with The Old House, Little Pinnock, to sleep up to 12.
