Higher Bosvarren in winterBosvarren is about a mile from the Helford River, and close to the beaches and old sea port of Falmouth, Helston and the Lizard, the coasts, and many beaches in the area. The house is in a farm hamlet half a mile up a tree lined drive in wooded country of hills and streams. It's built of granite and represents the essential double ended farmhouses of the area, set at right angles to the hill, in trees and fields. Although the site, field names and features of the farm go back eight hundred years, the farm was rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries. The walls are two feet thick and there are two enormous fireplaces, one with bread oven. Both have wood burning stoves.

Boats on the river at HelfordThe bedrooms have strange angles and corners and one is large & high ceilinged. The house is pleasing, with a private barn, a cobbled terrace and an enclosed and private suntrap south-facing walled garden in front, with additional garden for children. It's in the middle of an estate round which you can walk, and particularly safe for children to play. There are riding stables near by. The area around remains one of the most popular in Cornwall with good access to beaches, Falmouth, the Helford River and many visitor facilities. This is a popular house and suitable for many different types of holiday, and ages.

In the gardenThe house has been carefully renovated and simply decorated. The sitting room and dining room at Higher Bosvarren both have big granite fireplaces with wood burners, a stone bread oven. They are comfortable carpeted rooms. A long table seats 8. There is one bathroom and a second WC in the utility room downstairs which also includes a washing machine. The kitchen, refitted 2003, has electric cooker & hob, microwave; fridge-freezer.

There are three bedrooms, one of which is long and high ceilinged. Fitted carpets throughout, save terracotta tiles to kitchen and utility. Oil fired central heating. Ping pong table on a cobbled floor in the stone barn adjoining the house. Private parking. Good south facing walled garden very safe for small children. Cot and high chair available. Bicycles possible on the farm tracks. Dogs allowed. A comfortable and interesting old house.
