Bosvarren House, Constantine, CornwallBosvarren House is in open country between Constantine and Falmouth. This is the big house of a small farming hamlet of two farms and a couple of cottages and is approached up a private drive. Nearby is the Helford River and the Lizard with dramatic scenery and beaches. The sea is a couple of miles away but it is three miles to the three beaches at Falmouth and only half an hour to surfing beaches on the north coast. Falmouth is charming, and the new Maritime Museum, like the Eden Project, is worth a visit. The little hamlet of Bosvarren is up a tree lined drive from the country road, and Bosvarren House has two drives opening off that track.

Around the house are nearly two acres of garden, including a lot of lawn, some good trees, and a number of raised beds and many shrubs. This Georgian house was built around 1812 to impress. It has a south front of granite ashlar and became the country residence of the rector of Constantine. Weathervane at Bosvarren HouseThere are great views around the countryside. There is a riding stable near by, across the road. The surrounding farm land is in the same ownership as the house, so it is possible to walk freely and widely. Bosvarren House stands in the middle of gardens full of flowering shrubs, with small and large areas of lawns. Raised beds and mature trees make the garden varied and interesting. Though not as smart as some, Bosvarren House is comfortable, spacious, stylish and with a lovely garden which is particularly liked by children.

Bosvarren House is on three floors, although the garden basement is unused. The garden runs round all four sides. The south front looks over the garden and has wide granite steps and a fine granite ashlar front. Entry is usually from a small rear courtyard to the kitchen wing. The large kitchen has breakfast area, dishwasher, oil fired cooking range, electric cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer. Next to the kitchen is a small utility with washing machine, drier and separate WC.

Bosvarren House from the drive in winterThe house has shutters & window seats to all the sash windows. The central hall has the original front door and fanlight, and there are many other fine features including mahogany doors and original fireplaces. There is a dining room, a sitting room with fine cupboards, a large sitting room with TV & fireplace and the original Turkish style arch to a small study area. Most floors are covered with fitted carpets. Both sitting and dining rooms have wood burning stoves. Upstairs are four good looking double bedrooms, two with double beds, two with twin beds. There is one full bathroom, & a second shower room with basin & WC. Redecorated 2006. Lots of books to read around the house. Secondary electric heating. Cot and high chair available. Plenty of parking space. Dogs allowed.
