Badgers is just outside Constantine, some five miles west of Falmouth. It's about half a mile from the Helford Estuary and some 400 yards from a country pub which has recently won three awards as the nicest in Britain. Not only are the surroundings picturesque, with access along winding “up and downy” lanes, but Badgers is in one of the best areas for facilities, beaches, the coast and country. The adjoining lane on the line of an old Roman road crosses two old granite bridges, one last rebuilt in 1572 for the sum of £6.13s.4d.
Badgers is about 80 yards from Polwartha, in the old farmstead which is one of the older sites in the parish, at the head of the network of creeks leading to the sea. The site is just below the crest of a hill with views over the steep wooded valleys to each side and the tree lined green lanes. Badgers is off a hard farm track. Originally built of granite and slate around 1860, it has now been renovated retaining old features. There are oak framed iron windows, window seats, openings and high timber trussed ceilings to the sitting room. There's a sunny terrace facing SW in the partly walled garden and plenty of space for outdoor games.
Badgers is comfortable, well insulated & has visitors back again and again. The porch has a fine stained glass badger window. The kitchen has terracotta tiles and the remaining ground floor rooms are newly carpeted. The first floor is boarded and covered with rugs. The sitting room upstairs has plenty of light, views, a stone fireplace & wood burning stove, TV, CD player & radio. There are two bedrooms, one double one twin and a gallery loft with two beds reached by a steep ladder from the sitting room, suitable for adventurous children. There is a small stained glass window in the attic. The bathroom has bath & shower over the bath.
The kitchen is long and high with good wooden units, a dining table at one end & a stone corner seat. The kitchen is heated by an oil fired Rayburn and range cooker. There is also a small electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge with small freezer section. The utility is in an outhouse with washing machine, tumble drier and a further W.C. together with a games room with pool table. This utility and games room is shared with Polwartha. There are lawns on both sides of the house, ample parking, safe play for children and acres of land around the house. BBQ outside. The house has electric heaters to supplement the Rayburn and wood burning stove for which there is plenty of fuel. Dogs welcome.
